More about Me

My name is Taylor Winstead. I have grown up loving horses ever since my first birthday when my parents put me up on a pony with pink tack and pink sparkles on her rump! I started riding when I was 8 years old and haven’t slowed down since. I grew up in the hunter-jumper world but I have recently transitioned over into the eventing world. I haven’t competed in eventing just yet as I am still learning the ropes to be a safe and confident event rider, but I am getting closer to being able to compete everyday! To further my knowledge of horses and riding, I attended the Martin Community College Equine Program and graduated with my associates in Equine Training as well as an associates in Equine Business. While I was there, I learned about equine anatomy, equine psychology, rider psychology, proper equitation in both English and Western disciplines, equine reproduction, proper equine nutrition, equine business management, equine management, proper saddle fitting, safe riding instruction (beginners, intermediate, advanced) and how to start young horses under-saddle. Since then, I have focused on my own riding with my own horse, Rhea, a 12 year old Hanoverian. I intend to do a lot of eventing shows with her and move up in the levels! However, during my attendance at MCC, I discovered my love for teaching riders and horses! This passion has allowed me to become a natural instructor who strives to see riders succeed with their horse and most importantly, learn to love and trust riding their horse even more. Seeing a horse and rider become even closer through their training brings the utmost joy to me and I would like to provide that to anyone who may be interested!
